JAMESTOWN, NY-The Jamestown Jammers (32-21) scored 14 runs on 17 hits to defeat the Connecticut Tigers (28-26) by a score of 14-0 before 1751 fans at Diethrick Park on Thursday night.
The Jammers scored four runs in the first inning against Connecticut RHP Brennan Smith (0-4). 2B Danny Black (3-5) singled and moved to second base when SS Todd Muecklisch (0-2) was hit by a pitch. DH Noah Perio (4-5) singled home Black for a 1-0 lead. RF Marcell Ozuna (3-5) smacked a three-run home run over left field wall for a 4-0 Jamestown lead.
In the fifth inning, the Jammers added two more runs. Perio led off the inning with a single and scored on an opposite-field home run by LF Ryan Fisher for a 6-0 lead. Jamestown scored eight runs over the sixth and seventh innings to make it 14-0.
The Tigers return home to start a three-game series with the Auburn Doubledays on Friday at 7:05 p.m. It's a Friday Night Fireworks Show after the game presented by XtraMart Convenience Stores and Atlas PyroVision. It's also Halloween at the ballpark with fans encouraged to come to the game dressed up in costume! Prizes will be handed out to the best costume at the game! LHP Sean Nolin (0-0, 4.76) starts for Auburn against RHP Clemente Mendoza (3-5, 5.53) for Connecticut. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
