Jamestown Jammers News Release
Jamestown, NY- The Jamestown Jammers looked once again like the highest scoring offense in New York-Penn League on Thursday night. The Jammers scored all 10 of their runs over the first four innings en-route to a 10-0 victory.
Jackson Lodge used probably his best start of the season to improve to 3-1. Lodge took a no-hitter into the fourth inning, before Connecticut would break through with their first base knock. The Jammers would get their offense rolling right out of the gates as they took advantage of two Tigers miscues and score three runs to take a 3-0 lead.
Jamestown would continue their offensive charge and in the process chase Connecticut starter Kevin Ziomek after just two innings of work. Ziomek allowed four runs on two base hits. Julio Felix was called upon by the Tigers Manager Andrew Graham to keep things in check.
The Jammers rounded out the games scoring in the fourth inning against Felix as they put five runs on the scoreboard to exten their lead to 10-0. Dave Turgeon would hand the ball off to Justin Topa in the seventh inning working with a comfortable situation in hand. Topa would keep the Tigers offense in check as he scattered two hits over two innings of work.
Connecticut looked to crack the scoreboard in the top of the ninth inning as they would load the bases against the Jammers third pitcher of the night, Kurt Yacko. A Dominic Ficociello single followed by a Pat Leyland double brought some late life to the Tigers. Yacko would send the 1,851 fans in attendance home happy as he froze Tyer Gibson for a called strike three to seal the deal.
The Jammers close out their three game series against the Tigers tomorrow night with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. It will be Shults Auto Night as all kids get in FREE!! The purchase of a regular priced adult ticket will allow for one free ticket to be redeemed at the gate.
