BOISE, ID - The Bakersfield Jam (12-7) defeated the Idaho Stampede (3-14), 119-101, Friday night at CenturyLink Arena. Six players scored in double-figures, led by Elijah Millsap who had a game-high 28 points to go along with six rebounds.
Bakersfield got off to a hot start shooting 70.0 percent from the floor, compared to Idaho's 40.0, and ended the first quarter with a 34-25 lead. In the second period, Casey Prather scored seven points off the bench and helped the Jam stretch their lead to as many as 16 points. Idaho fought back late in the quarter and trimmed Bakersfield's lead to seven points at the break (61-54).
In the second half, the Jam led all the way and held leads as big as 11 in the third and 20 in the fourth. The Stampede came within six points (99-93) at the 7:31 mark of the final frame, but Bakersfield responded with a 13-3 run that ultimately put the game away.
Earl Barron notched in a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Jamil Wilson contributed 17 points and six rebounds off the bench. Prather (15), Xavier Munford (13) and Mac Koshwal (10) also scored in double-figures.
The Stampede were led by Jerrelle Benimon (20 points, 11 rebounds) and Shane Gibson (18 points). Joel Wright tallied 16 points.
Both teams will battle again tomorrow Saturday, January 3. Tip-off is set at 6:00 p.m. PT in Boise.
