Maine Red Claws Earn First Seed in Inaugural Showcase Cup

NEW YORK, January 2, 2015 - The Maine Red Claws (13-3) earned the first overall seed in the inaugural Showcase Cup, a single elimination tournament which will be played as part of the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung in Santa Cruz, Calif. between Jan. 15-19. The Austin Spurs (11-4), Santa Cruz Warriors (10-4), Texas Legends (10-6), Bakersfield Jam (11-7), Canton Charge (11-7), Grand Rapids Drive (9-6) and Sioux Falls Skyforce (8-8) round out the eight-team field.
Teams qualified for the Cup by earning the NBA D-League's best records through and including Jan. 1, 2015. Each team in the tournament will play two games, and the Cup will culminate in a championship game where a winner will be crowned. The 10 NBA D-League teams not competing for the Cup will play two non-tournament games apiece during the Showcase. All games in Santa Cruz, with the exception of the Showcase Cup championship game, will count towards team regular season records.
Attended by general managers and player personnel executives from all 30 NBA teams, the NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung provides the league's players and coaches an opportunity to display their talents for five consecutive days in one location.

A full game schedule for the 2015 NBA D-League Showcase presented by Samsung will be announced on Monday, Jan. 5.
