BAKERSFIELD "" Atlanta Hawks assignee Jared Cunningham recorded 25 points, 10 assists and three steals to lead the Bakersfield Jam (6-8) to a 115-93 victory over the visiting Santa Cruz Warriors (9-5) on Saturday night.
Santa Cruz took an early 4-0 lead, but Bakersfield then scored six straight points and never looked back. After taking a 6-4 lead, Bakersfield dominated the game from that point on. Cunningham powered the Jam in the first quarter, as he scored 13 points and dished out four assists to give Bakersfield a 36-24 advantage after one quarter of play. Bakersfield increased their lead by as many as 20 in the second quarter, 22 in the third and by 27 in the final frame.
The Jam shot 47 percent from the floor, while holding the Warriors to just 38 percent. Bakersfield outrebounded Santa Cruz 62-43 and outscored them 56-46 in the paint.
Damion James posted a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. James Nunnally scored 19 points and had four steals, while Ike Diogu added 17 points and 14 rebounds. Mac Koshwal finished with 10 points, nine rebounds and two blocks.
The Warriors were paced by Cameron Jones (20 points, 6 assists) and William Buford (17 points, 6 rebounds). Maurice Baker tallied 16 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Both teams face off again tomorrow, December 29 at 4:00 p.m. PST inside the Dignity Health Event Center.
