(Bakersfield, Calif., Dec. 8, 2007) - The Bakersfield Jam returned home to the friendly confines of Rabobank Arena to defeat the Anaheim Arsenal, 119-105 on Saturday afternoon. All five Jam starters scored in double figures as Bakersfield raised their home record to 2-0 on the season and 2-6 overall. With the loss, Anaheim's record falls to an identical 2-6.
"It's great to come home after such a difficult stretch of road games," said Jim Harrick, Bakersfield Jam head coach. "We came out strong and pushed the ball all night long. Hopefully this is something we can build on."
Brandon Bowman led the way for Bakersfield, pouring in 28 points, including multiple dunks, and snaring 11 rebounds. Roderick Riley chipped in with 19 points and a team-high 12 rebounds and Andre Barrett continued to shine with16 points and 11 assists. The Jam starting five combined for 96 of the team's 19 points.
Kedrick Brown led the Arsenal with 23 points and Jamaal Thomas and Davin White had 20 and 17 points, respectively off the bench. Anaheim shot over 56 percent from the field but was outrebounded 51-30 in the loss.
The two teams will square off again tomorrow in Anaheim to complete their home-and-home series this weekend. The Jam's next home game is Friday, December 14 versus the Albuquerque Thunderbirds when the first 1,000 fans will receive an "Ultimate 3-Pointer" T-Shirt courtesy of Glinn & Giorodano Physical Therapy.
