MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem found their offensive touch tonight against the Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, but they ultimately fell 5-4 in overtime.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mayhem assistant captain Jake Trask opened the scoring just 54 seconds into the game, assisted by captain Daniel Gentzler and defenseman Brandon Pfeil. On the opposite end of the period, with just 16.8 seconds left, Evan Schultz scored the first goal of his professional career for Roanoke to tie the game up 1-1.

The second period featured five total goals, including two from the Mayhem. Trask scored his second of the game and Ryan Salkeld scored his first of the season. After taking the 3-2 lead, the Mayhem gave up two goals in the back half of the period to go down 4-3 to the Rail Yard Dawgs.

The Mayhem tied the game, however, as Trask scored his third of the game off of assists again from Gentzler and Pfeil. The game would head into three-on-three overtime, where the teams went back-and-forth. The Rail Yard Dawgs eventually won on a top-shelf shot from Mike Moroso, his second goal of the game.

NOTABLE STATS

Daniel Gentzler and Brandon Pfeil also recorded multi-point games, as they recorded three assists and two assists, respectively.

KERR'S COMMENTS

"It was nice to see the offense start clicking in this one. That's how we want to play. Get pucks deep, control the play in the offensive zone, and control the puck down low. We still need to tighten up some things, especially in the defensive zone. This was a step in the right direction, but we still have a lot of work to do."

SEASON UPDATE

Macon Mayhem: 0-2-1 (1 points)

Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs: 1-1-0 (2 points)
