Pensacola Ice Flyers News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. (October 27, 2017) -Â The Ice Flyers opened their home slate with a dominant win against the Mississippi RiverKings in front of the 3,541 Ice Flyers faithful at the Pensacola Bay Center Friday night.
The first period started off with a hot start from forward Jessyko Bernard as he netted two goals in a matter of 5 minutes at 16:23 and 11:58. Stephen Hrehoriak and Robert Lepine assisted on the first goal, while Anthony Calabrese and Garrett Milan assisted on the second goal.
The second and third period was scoreless between the Ice Flyers and RiverKings. Both teams battled tough against each other, but ultimately ended with the Ice Flyers keeping their 2-0 lead they began the game with.
Goaltender Sean Bonar stopped all 24 RiverKings shots for his second straight shutout to start the season. The reigning SPHL MVP did not disappoint in his first start at the Bay Center as a member of the Ice Flyers. In some ways, the second game mirrored the first as the Ice Flyers gained an early lead. And once again, Sean Bonar stopped all the shots with relative ease.Â
The Ice Flyers will be tested next week as they head to Peoria, Illinois to face the Rivermen. Game time on November 3rd is 7:05 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on November 4th. All games can be watched on SPHL Live.Â
