May 20, 2005 - Canadian Football League (CFL)
Toronto Argonauts News Release
Toronto â The Toronto Argonauts are pleased to welcome Jaime Stein as the 2005 play-by-play announcer for its radio broadcasts. Stein will be teamed with a familiar voice to Argonauts radio listeners, veteran colour commentator Peter Martin. For the second season, all 2005 Argonauts games will be broadcast on the home of the Argos, 640 Toronto.
Stein brings a fresh, new voice to the Toronto Argonauts. The 2004 season was his first with the team, where he produced all of the radio broadcasts and did play-by-play commentary on four road games. A favourite with Argo fans, Stein takes over full time play-by-play duties.
Stein began his radio career at CFRC Radio in 2001 where he honed his skills doing colour commentary for football and hockey games. During the 2002 football season, Stein worked as the colour commentator for the Queen's University Golden Gaels, eventually moving to play-by-play during the 2003 season. Stein handled play-by play duties for Queen's University men's and women's hockey teams and worked at TSN for two years as an editorial assistant.
However, it was Stein's love of football that led him to leave TSN to join the Argos broadcast team. Commented Stein, "It's an honour to be calling games for such an historic organization. I'm excited for the start of the season, especially coming off a Grey Cup Championship. I look forward to the challenges ahead."
Keith Pelley, Toronto Argonauts President and CEO, stated, "Jaime Stein is an up and coming broadcaster. He showed unwavering commitment and dedication last season and we are thrilled to have him as our new play-by-play announcer. He is a true football guy who will complement Pete Martin's insights with his own. Together, they make a strong team."
The first broadcast of the 2005 season will take place from Halifax on June 11 at 6:30 p.m. Eastern as the Argonauts face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the historic Touchdown Atlantic game. All games can be heard on 640 Toronto in the Greater Toronto Area and on-line at www.640toronto.com.
The 2004 Grey Cup Champion Toronto Argonauts are North America's oldest professional football club, having celebrated their 130th anniversary in 2003. The Toronto Argonauts have 15 Grey Cup championships to their credit.
