Jaime Penedo Called up to Panama National Team

CARSON, Calif. (Tuesday, June 2, 2015) - LA Galaxy goalkeeper Jaime Penedo has been named to the Panama National Team for two friendly matches against Ecuador, with the first set for Wednesday, June 3 at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City before traveling to Guayaquil for a match at Estadio George Capwell on Saturday, June 6.

Penedo will be unavailable for selection this weekend when the team hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC at StubHub Center on Saturday, June 6 at 7:30 p.m. PT.

Penedo, 33, has made over 100 appearances for the Panamanian national team, including caps in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, the CONCACAF Gold Cup and UNCAF Nations Cup matches. Penedo has started 12 matches for the LA Galaxy this season in MLS, earning a 4-3-5 record. Since joining the Galaxy in 2013, the goalkeeper has made 50 appearances while recording 146 saves and 16 shutouts with a 1.08 goals against average.
