NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (January 30)- Good goaltending wins games, but great goaltending dominates games, and it was Brahmas netminder Brett Jaeger who exemplified this in a 3-2 overtime win over Mississippi Friday evening in North Richland Hills.

It took only four seconds to understand the competitiveness between the Texas Brahmas and Mississippi RiverKings as Brahmas enforcer Nathan Saunders and RiverKings defenseman David Simoes tangled up in a match of their own as the opening faceoff was underway, each earning five minute majors and cheers from a soldout crowd at NYTEX.

It was RiverKings blueliner Derek Landmesser that found the back of the net first on the powerplay five minute in the game. Two minutes later the ‘Kings, feeding off from the momentum of the lead, came within inches of a second goal, but Brahmas defenseman Kevin McLeod was Brett Jaeger's safety net deflecting a trickling goal with his skate. Matt Quinn evened the game at the end of the period with his eighth goal of the season with a feed from Pete Rouleau.

Jaeger allowed a second goal from Mississippi in the second, but Travis Banga gave Texas the 2-2 tie with a deflection from a shot by Craig Minard. The intensity continued to grow in the tight game, but strong play from both goaltenders led the game into the extra period.

Twenty-two seconds in the overtime, Jason Deitsch found a rebound on his tape and sent the puck over Kevin Beech's shoulder for the Brahmas seventh consecutive victory at home. Jaeger had a dazzling performance stopping 44 of 46 shots for his 21st win of the season.
