(North Richland Hills, TX) -- Texas forward Jason Deitsch's power play goal in the first 22 seconds of overtime defeated the Mississippi RiverKings, 3-2, Friday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre.

Mississippi took the lead on a power play goal scored by Derek Landmesser, his third goal and second power play tally of the season, assisted by Stephen Margeson, at 4:44 for a 1-0 lead.

Texas tied the game at 16:31 of the first period, when Matt Quinn slid a loose puck into the net past RiverKings' goaltender Kevin Beech for his eighth goal of the year. The teams finished the first period tied at 1-1.

Jeff Nelson deflected a pass from Landmesser for the RiverKings' second goal, also assisted by Matt Pierce at 5:59 of the second period for a 2-1 lead.

But, Travis Banga tied the game at 16:23 for Texas, evening the game at 2-2 after two periods of play.

There was no scoring in the third period, but a penalty on Matt Summers gave the Brahmas a power play with 18 seconds left in regulation, and Deitsch delivered the game-winning blow 22 seconds into overtime for the final 3-2 result.

Mississippi finished the night 1-for-3 on the power play, while Texas scored once on the power in four chances. The RiverKings outshot the Brahmas 46-19, with Kevin Beech making 16 saves and Texas goalie Brett Jaeger stopping 44 RiverKings attempts.
