Jacksonville Suns' Fans Ticketed For Wearing Their Seat Belts

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Department of Transportation Safety Office has partnered with the Jacksonville Suns to encourage Suns fans to buckle up. Local law enforcement will be "ticketing" motorist and their passengers for wearing their seat belts in the "You have been ticketed" promotion.

The Jacksonville Suns have provided a local law enforcement agency with tickets to the August 23 game versus the Mississippi Braves and to the September 2 game versus the Montgomery Biscuits to be distributed to Suns fans who are caught wearing their seat belt by participating law enforcement officials.

In addition, on Sunday, September 2, the first 500 people into the stadium for the Suns versus Biscuits game who pledge to wear their seat belt every trip, every time, day and night will receive a Jacksonville Suns buckle up t-shirt. The game starts at 7:05pm and the gates open at 5:30. The Famous San Diego Chicken will be performing during that game as well.

As an additional reminder for their fans the TEAM have hung banners at the stadium exits reminding their fans to 'buckle up" and are making public address announcements remind fans the importance of wearing a seat belt every trip, every time, day and night because seat belts save lives.

The Jacksonville Suns are the Double-A Southern League Affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers and play in the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The Suns are in town through Friday, August 24, hosting the Mississippi Braves. Thursday, August 23 is Pennzoil Night and the first 1,000 fans through the gate will receive a free pair of Pennzoil Thunderstix. Thursday is also the LAST Thursday Night Throwdown with Buds for a Buck and other great drink specials from Budweiser, Bacardi, Three Olives Vodka and Planet Radio 107.3FM.

Friday night is Jaguars Night as the Suns help sports fans in Jacksonville get ready for football season. The Suns players will wear special black, gold and teal satin jerseys that will be auctioned off to benefit the Jaguars foundation. The Roar of the Jaguars, Jacksonville DeVille and several prominent Jaguars players are scheduled to make appearances throughout the night. Fans will also enjoy NAPA Friday Family Fireworks after the game.
