Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

Odessa - Odessa, Texas - Five unanswered goals by the Odessa Jackalopes turned a one goal second period deficit for the Jacks into a comfortable 6-2 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas in Saturday night CHL action at the Ector County Coliseum in Odessa, Texas.

Fort Worth looked poised for a road win over the Southwest Division leading Jackalopes when center Cory Stillman wristed a shot from the left wing face off circle past Jacks goaltender Derek Dolson to give the Brahmas a 2-1 lead at the 14:11 mark of the second. Odessa, however, quickly dashed the Brahmas hopes of a victory. First, Jacks winger Dominic Leveille tied the game at two when he converted a two-on-none opportunity down low for his twentieth goal of the season at the 15:50 mark of the second. A powerplay goal from Jackalopes defenseman Chris Brannen less than three minutes later put Odessa on top 3-2. Odessa scored their third goal in a span of 3:23 to end the second period when winger John Kozoriz netted a goal from the slot just 27 seconds after the Brannen goal.

In the third period, the Jacks cemented the win with two breakaway goals, from forwards Jeff Ewasko and Matt Cressman.

Dolson was the winner in net for the Jackalopes, stopping 29 of the 31 Brahmas shots he faced in the game. Fort Worth rookie goaltender Andrew Martin was saddled with the loss, allowing the six Jackalopes goals on 34 shots.

The loss for the Brahmas (13-28-6) extends their winless streak to eight consecutive games (0-6-2). Fort Worth has not won since a 4-3 victory at Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday, January 28. The victory for the Jacks improves their mark to 28-14-5 on the season.

The Brahmas will try to bounce back from this loss on Monday night, February 20, when they host the Youngstown Steelhounds at 6:00 p.m. at the Fort Worth Convention Center. Note the early start time because of the President's Day holiday. For additional information, please contact the Brahmas team office at (817) 336-4423.
