Colorado Eagles News Release

LUBBOCK, TX- The defending champion Colorado Eagles won their third straight road game Saturday night at the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum defeating the Cotton Kings 4-2. Eagles veteran center Riley Nelson had a game-high three points on one goal and two assists and goaltender Jeff Blair extended his record to 9-0-3 over his past 12 games saving an Eagles franchise-high 54 of 56 shots. The Eagles record improved to 34-10-5 and they continue to lead the Central Hockey League. Colorado returns home for three games at the Budweiser Events Center next week including games on Altitude Sports & Entertainment on Wednesday, February 22 and Saturday, February 25.

The Cotton Kings jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Josh Anderson as he backhanded the puck passed Blair at the 12:57 mark of the period. Colorado was out shot 18-10 in the period but they had a chance to tie the game when Lee Arnold got the puck to dribble through the legs of Cotton Kings' goaltender Brad Buss, but he was able to cover up the puck before it crossed the goal line. The Eagles faced an uphill challenge after one period of play because in eight games prior to Saturday's game, Colorado had only won one game when trailing after one period.

Eagles' defenseman Jason Lundmark evened the score less than two minutes into the second period when he jumped into the offensive end and beat Brad Buss. Eagles center Riley Nelson scored on a power play under three minutes later to give the visiting team a 2-1 lead . Lubbock's Stacey Bauman netted the team's second power play goal of the game with 3:26 remaining in the period to tie the game at two. The Eagles quickly regained the lead on Nick Parillo's 11th goal of the season with under two minutes remaining to give them a 3-2 lead going into the second intermission.

The Eagles added an insurance goal in the third period on their second power play goal, this one coming from rookie Garrett Larson at the 13:05 mark of the period. Final Score: Eagles 4 - Cotton Kings 2.
