WINNIPEG, MB, Canada - The Joliet JackHammers (24-22) rallied for six runs in the ninth to erase a 3-0 deficit and earn a 6-3 victory over the Winnipeg Goldeyes (25-23) Friday night at Canwest Park. The victory extended Joliet's winning streak to five games and put the JackHammers percentage points ahead of Winnipeg for third place.

The JackHammers trailed 3-0 heading to the ninth with Bobby Korecky (0-2) coming out of the bullpen. Jon Nelson was hit by a pitch to start the inning and Freddie Thon followed with a single. Chris Colton doubled off the wall in right to plate the first Joliet run and put runners at second and third. Ryan Wehrle singled up the middle to tie the game at three. Roberto Mena then laid down a bunt which Korecky threw into left field trying to get Wehrle at third base to put the JackHammers out in front at 4-3.

The Goldeyes finally got their first out in the frame when Rafael Mendez popped up a bunt attempt against Ian Thomas, who came in for Korecky. Jonathan Wyatt singled home Mena from second, who scored after jarring the ball loose from Luis Alen in a collision at home plate. Kevin Rios drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly for the 6-3 final.

Bear Bay (4-3) went eight innings and picked up his first victory against his former club this season. The right-hander allowed three runs on nine hits with one strikeout and two walks, going at least seven innings for his eighth straight start.

Winnipeg got on the board first, breaking up a scoreless game with three runs in the sixth. Bay sat down the first two in order, but the next five hitters would reach base. Juan Diaz walked, Kevin West singled and Justin Justice tripled to center to put the Fish out in front 2-0. Luis Alen followed with a single to plate Justice for the 3-0 advantage.

Stephen Flake picked up a no decision, tossing seven scoreless frames. Flake struck out three and scattered nine hits.

Griffin Bailey locked down his seventh save, striking out two in the ninth. It was the fourth straight game Bailey recorded a save.

Korecky blew his second save and did not record an out in the ninth, surrendering five runs (four earned) on three hits.

The JackHammers improved to 7-6 against the Goldeyes with two games remaining in the season series.
