Augusta GreenJackets News Release
Greenville, SC - The Augusta GreenJackets (41-28, 41-21) recorded their 15 shutout of the season with a 7-0 win over the Greenville Drive (40-30, 28-34) on Sunday. Starter Craig Clark worked seven shutout innings for the win and the GreenJackets scored six of their seven runs with two outs.
Juan Ciriaco gave Augusta the early lead in the first inning with a two-out, solo homer over the "green monster" in left-field for a 1-0 lead. It was his second home run of the season.
The GreenJackets added four more runs in the second inning with all four coming with two outs. Dayton Buller connected for a two-run homer to straight away center and Nick Noonan had a two-run double for a 5-0 Augusta lead.
That was more than enough for Clark (8-4) who allowed just four hits, no walks and struck out five in his seven innings worked.
Andrew De La Garza worked a perfect eighth inning and Trey Webb closed out a perfect ninth inning getting two strikeouts.
Angel Villalona had a one-out solo homer in the third inning for a 6-0 Augusta lead. It was his team leading 15 of the season.
The GreenJackets capped off the scoring in the fifth inning on a two-out RBI double from Garrett Baker.
The GreenJackets and Drive finish up their season series Monday night with Augusta sending right-hander T.J. Brewer (9-4, 2.68) to the mound. Greenville counters with right-hander Brock Huntzinger (1-2, 7.00). First pitch is at 7:00 p.m.
