New Jersey Jackals News Release

Little Falls, NJ - The New Jersey Jackals continued their uphill climb in the Can-Am League Standings with an impressive 7-1 defeat of the New Haven County Cutters at Yale Field.

The top of the first inning saw the Jackals spot Joel Bennett a lead before he even set foot on the mound. A Wilton Veras sacrifice fly scored Jason Tuttle, as the Jackals took a 1-0 lead.

Two innings later, New Jersey put together a two-out rally, capped off by a two-RBI double by Bill Peavey. After three innings, the Jackals led 3-0.

They added to their cushion with two more in the top of the fifth inning, including an RBI single by Peavey.

New Jersey continued their barrage in the sixth, with two more RBI singles. The first was by Guillermo Reyes, and Zack Smithlin followed up with one of his own.

The only Cutter run came in the bottom of the ninth off Jackal reliever Tim Tisch. Thomari Story-Harden scored on an error by Wilton Veras.

Joel Bennett was brilliant. He blanked the Cutters in eight innings of work, while only allowing five hits. Bennett also walked two and struck out six.
