New Jersey Jackals News Release
The New Jersey Jackals offense shook off the Game one cobwebs and bounced back in Game two to slash 12 hits and score seven runs in a 7-1 route of the Rockland Boulders to split the doubleheader at Palisades Credit Union Park on Tuesday.
New Jersey opened the scoring in the 2nd inning. After starter Brian Ernst, a former Jackal, allowed a leadoff walk to Carlos Triunfel, Nolan Meadows doubled, sending Triunfel to third base. He would later score on an RBI groundout from John Reuttiger to make it 1-0.
The Boulders answered back in the 4th inning however, with Conor Bierfieldt mashing his 10th homer of the season off Jackals starter Vic Black to knot things up.
That score remained until the 6th inning, when Rony Cabrera smacked a two-run homer off Boulders relief pitcher Nick Kennedy to take a 3-1 lead.
New Jersey added some insurance in the 7th, with an RBI double from David Harris, and RBI single from Jordan Hinshaw, capped off by a mammoth two-run blast from Seth Spivey against Tommy Lawrence to make it 7-1.
Vic Black earned the win, improving his record to 2-3. He tossed five innings of one-run ball, allowing only four hits, while striking out three. Evan DeLuca, Vin Mazzaro and Mat Latos combined for two innings of scoreless relief to close things out.
The Jackals and Boulders return to action tomorrow morning, to play the rubber match of this three game series, this time at Yogi Berra Stadium in Little Falls, NJ. First pitch is scheduled for 11:05 am.
