Sussex County 2, Ottawa 1

Sussex County starting pitcher Andrew Vinson tossed his second complete game of the season in leading the Miners to a 2-1 victory over Ottawa.

Vinson was terrific tonight as he gave up only an earned run on seven hits in his 134-pitch outing. The righty struck out seven batters and walked three. With the victory, Vinson is now 5-2 on the season and has allowed only two earned runs in his last 17 innings pitched.

Offensively for Sussex County, CF Jayce Ray and 3B Martin Figueroa each had two-hit nights with Ray driving in a run and Figueroa scoring one. Right fielder Rubi Silvaplated a run in a 1-for-3 night while 2B Mikey Reynolds hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie and give the Miners the lead for good.

For Ottawa in the loss, DH Sebastien Boucher went 3-for-4.

Trois-Rivieres 10, Quebec 9

Trailing 1-0 after two innings of play, Trois-Rivieres took command and outscored Quebec 10-4 in the next three and defeated the Capitales, 10-9.

The Aigles banged out 13 hits in the contest with five players having multi-hit games. Trois-Rivieres 3B David Glaude went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI while LF Javier Herrera had three hits in four at-bats and scored a run. First baseman Kevin Cornelius also chipped in a two-hit night, including a grand slam, and drove in four runs for the Aigles.

Trois-Rivieres pitcher Taylor Hyssong tossed 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief to nab the victory. Hyssong fanned two batters in the four that he faced. With the win, the lefty is now 2-0 on the year.

For Quebec, 2B/3B TJ White launched a ninth inning grand slam to make it a one-run game.
