New Jersey Jackals News Release

Andy Mocahbee provided the only semblance of offensive production for the New Jersey Jackals as they dropped a 3-1 decision to the Rockland Boulders in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon at Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona, NY.

Mocahbee's solo homer in the third inning was the only run the Jackals could muster, as they were dominated by Boulders' southpaw Garrett Johnson.

The Jackals were behind the eight ball early in this one, as start Yasmany Hernandez fell into some first inning trouble. He walked Conor Bierfeldt, and surrendered a long two-run homer to Cody Regis to give the Boulders to early 2-0 lead. Marcus Nidiffer followed with a solo blast of his own to extend the lead to 3-0 before the first inning was over.

Those were the only runs Garrett Johnson needed, as he hurled six innings, allowing five hits and only one earned run despite walking four batters to go along with four strikeouts.

The Jackals stranded seven runners on base in total, four of which were in scoring position.

Game 2 of the doubleheader will be played at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 10th.
