
Jackals Host Open Anthem Auditions; Rec Rink Programs Kick Into High Gear

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they are holding an open auditions to sign the National Anthem at one of the 38 Jackals home games this season. The First Arena also announced their new fall programs that will gear up at the Rec Rink.
The Elmira Jackals will host an open National Anthem auditions on Wednesday October
4th at the First Arena. Sign up begins at 5:00 pm in the Rec Rink lobby and the
auditions will start promptly at 6:00 pm at in the Main Arena. Singers auditioning
are asked to enter the Arena through the Rec Rink doors on Gray St. Each person
will be auditioning for an opportunity to sing at one the 38 Jackals home games this

including Adult Hockey Clinics & Learn To Play Hockey Sessions, Figure Skating
Schools and Synchronized Skating, Youth Hockey Learn To Play Sessions and the Adult

www.firstarena.com/recrink.asp ADULT HOCKEY This clinic will cover breakouts, defensive and offensive zone positioning, face
offs, neutral zone transitioning, and small games. The program will be taught by
First Arena hockey instructors boasting an impressive resume of coaching, playing,
and program direction experience at all levels. The sessions will be held every
Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 pm for six weeks for the low cost of $60.00. The
registration deadline is October 10th. Sessions begin October 10th. Previous FAST
participants may continue to use their equipment. ADULT Learn-To-Play HOCKEY The learn to play program is designed to teach novice players the basic individual
hockey skills: skating, puck handling, passing, and shooting. Skating is the most
important element of hockey. Skating drills will emphasize all of the components of
forward and backward skating including: balance and agility, starts and stops,
crossovers and edge work, turns and transitions. As the program progresses, the
focus will shift to puckhandling, passing, and shooting. The program will be taught
by First Arena hockey instructors boasting an impressive resume of coaching,
playing, and program direction experience at all levels. The sessions will be held
every Tuesday from 8:15 - 9:15pm for six weeks for the low cost of $65.00. The
registration deadline is October 10th. Sessions begin October 10th. Equipment is
available on a first come first serve basis. Figure Skating Learn-To-Skate Figure Skating learn to skate program begins Sunday, October 1st at 3:15 pm at the

607-734-PUCK ext. 2213. Adult Hockey League Registration Deadline: October 9th AA-AAA: Mondays (18 Games) A-AA: Thursdays (18 Games) Each player must pay the fee before playing any games. Subs must register. League
rules available on our website. All players must be 18 years or older except
goalies. If you are looking to get on a team, please indicate this in the team

This program is designed to teach novice players the basic individual hockey skills:

prior to participation. Ages: 6-9 Practices: Once per week on Saturdays at 11:30 am Elmira Youth Hockey Recreational Program This program is a semi-competitive non-checking house program for boys and girls.
It will cover powerskating, high tempo drills to improve puckhandling, passing, and
shooting, and team concepts.
Each practice will end with a scrimmage and as the program progresses; the time for
scrimmaging will increase. Ages: 9 - 13 Practices: Once per week on Saturdays at 12:45 pm The Elmira Jackals are gearing up for their seventh season of operations in the
United Hockey League and the Twin Tiers. Season tickets for the 2006-2007 UHL
season are on sale now as well as individual game tickets and 10 & 20-game packages
