Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announced today that they have received forward Chanse Fitzpatrick from the Binghamton Senators of the American Hockey League. The Jackals also announced that have acquired the rights of forward Mark Scott from the Rockford IceHogs in a trade for future considerations. In other player news, the Jackals confirmed that left Wing Mike Sgroi will remain in the AHL after he signed a 25-game agreement with Binghamton.

Right Wing Chanse Fitzpatrick has been assigned to Elmira from Binghamton, becoming the first player this season to be sent to the Jackals from their AHL neighbor. A 6'1" 226 lbs forward from Cornwall, Prince Edward Island, Fitzpatrick attended pre-season training camp with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League in September. He was then sent to their AHL affiliate in Binghamton on September 27th and signed an AHL contract with the B-Sens on September 29th. Fitzpatrick has appeared in 12 games for the Senators this season, scoring 1 goal and adding 37 penalty minutes. Fitzpatrick began his professional career with the Columbia Inferno of the ECHL in 2004-05, where he scored 47 points (20 goals, 27 assists) and added 155 PIMs in 66 games. He also earned 6 games called up to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL that season. Fitzpatrick was in Columbia again last season, but missed a majority of the season due to a shoulder injury.

"We welcome Chanse to Elmira," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "This is a team where he will get a lot of ice time and will provide him the opportunity to display his talents. We hope he will come work hard with the Jackals so that he will be ready for the call back to Binghamton."

In other news the Jackals have acquired the rights to 6'4", 220 lbs right wing Mark Scott in a trade with the Rockford IceHogs for future considerations. Scott played for the Roanoke Valley Vipers in 2005-06 and after Roanoke ceased operations his rights were selected by Rockford in this past summer's UHL Dispersal Draft. Scott had 47 points (19 goals, 28 assists) and 76 penalty minutes in 53 games for Roanoke last season. The 29-year old started the 2006-07 season with the Tulsa Oilers of the CHL, appearing in 12 games and recording 4 assists. A native of McCreary, Manitoba, Scott is currently in his 8th season of professional hockey.

"Mark averaged almost a point-per-game last season in Roanoke," said Nichols. "We are looking for depth right now and he is a big, tough customer who adds size and skill. Negotiations with Mark have been on-going and we are hoping to finalize a deal with him so that he could join the team in Muskegon."

The Jackals also announced that left wing Mike Sgroi will remain on his AHL Call-Up with the Binghamton Senators and has signed a 25-game agreement with the B-Sens.

"Congratulations to Mike on working hard with the Jackals and getting back to the AHL," said Nichols. "The UHL has had great success in sending players up to higher levels; Sgroi is the first Jackals call up this season and I envision many more in the months to come."

The Jackals head on the road for three games this weekend in Muskegon, Chicago and Quad City. The will return home on Friday December 8th as they host the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 pm wearing their special Christmas jerseys at First Arena.
