Elmira Jackals News Release

Elmira, NY - The Elmira Jackals announce two upcoming promotions: Children's Toy Donation/Support Our Troops Night and the Teddy Bear Toss Night at the next home games coming in early December to the First Arena. The Jackals also announce a special post-game Christmas Party for Season Ticket Holders following the December 9th home game.

On Friday December 8th as the Jackals take on the Fort Wayne Komets, the teams asks all fans to bring toys to help underprivileged children. The Arena will be collecting toys at the gates and all contributed toys will be donated to various local charities to help children in need during the holiday season. The Jackals are also featuring Support Our Troops Night: $4 from each ticket purchased for Friday's game against Fort Wayne will be donated by Jackals to create care packages for the troops currently deployed overseas. The Jackals also want to give appropriate recognition to local soldiers currently serving their country and away from their families during the holidays. Fans who currently have friends or family serving in the military can email Lisa Harder at lisa.harder@firstarena.com to have their loved one announced during Friday's game.

Saturday December 9th is Teddy Bear Toss Night as the Jackals once again battle Fort Wayne. Fans can bring in brand new teddy bears on their own or they can purchase teddy bears at the game. The official Teddy Bear Toss will take place when the Jackals score their first goal of the game. As soon as the puck goes in the net for the first Elmira goal, fans then throw all their teddy bears onto the ice in celebration of the Jackals and the holiday spirit of giving. The Jackals will collect all the bears thrown on to the ice and the players will deliver the teddy bears in person to children in area hospitals.

Immediately following Saturday's home game against the Komets, the Jackals invite all Season Ticket Holders to join them in a special post-game Christmas party on the ice. The Jackals will have Hot Chocolate, Christmas Cookies, "Special" Reindeer Sled Rides, an opportunity to Meet & Mingle with the Jackals and possibly an appearance by a Famous Christmas Icon. The festivities will take play shortly after the end of the game.

"We are entering the holiday season, which is the season of giving," said General Manager Robbie S. Nichols. "Hopefully our great fans will bring toys for children in need and teddy bears for kids in our local hospitals. We ask all our fans to please donate whatever they can for the less fortunate children in our community."

The Jackals head on the road for three games this weekend in Muskegon, Chicago and Quad City. The will return home on Friday December 8th as they host the Fort Wayne Komets at 7:30 pm wearing their special Christmas jerseys at First Arena.
