IN JUST A FEW HOURS...
The Elmira Jackals kick off a four-game week when they welcome the Wheeling Nailers to First Arena, with the opening faceoff at 7:05 p.m. The Jackals trail the Nailers by two points for first place in the Atlantic Division, as Elmira fell to Trenton on Sunday, 4-2, while Wheeling prevailed over Reading, 7-5. Tonight's Valentine's Day game will feature an on-ice wedding during the first intermission, as Jackals fans Melissa McCool and Michael Ward will tie the knot at First Arena.
DID YOU KNOW?
Elmira's loss on Sunday to Trenton during which it led in the third period was its first since Nov. 18, when the Jackals saw a 3-2 lead slip away in a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Kalamazoo Wings. The Jackals had won 14-straight games before Sunday in which they led at some point during the third period.
SCOUTING THE NAILERS
Wheeling is on a seven-game point streak entering tonight's game, during which it is 6-0-0-1. The Nailers have not fallen in regulation since Jan. 28 when they lost to Kalamazoo, 2-1. The seven-game point streak is the second-longest current one in the ECHL, behind Gwinnett's nine-game streak. Chris Barton is tied for second among ECHL rookies with 44 points and leads first-year skaters with 23 goals. Peter Merth is tied for the league lead in plus-minus at +21.
