Complete Game Notes

IN JUST A FEW HOURS...

The Elmira Jackals will attempt to keep their perfect home-ice record intact when they host the South Carolina Stingrays at First Arena at 7:35 p.m. The Jackals are 3-0 at home this season and will try to get back into the win column after falling for the first time in 2011-2012 in Wheeling last Saturday, 3-2.

GOALTENDING SETS THE BAR

Through four games, the Jackals' goaltending has been superb, with Timo Pielmeier and Brian Stewart combining for an Eastern Conference-best .946 save percentage. The Jackals have the 2011-2012 league leader in save percentage (Pielmeier, .962) and the 2010-2011 leader (Stewart, .927) on their roster. The two have turned away 158 of 167 shots this year. Stewart set a Jackals club record in ECHL regular-season play on Saturday with 53 saves.

SCOUTING THE STINGRAYS

Elmira was 2-0 against South Carolina in 2010-2011, defeating the Stingrays at First Arena on Nov. 12, 5-3, and winning at the North Charleston Coliseum on Mar. 8, 3-2. South Carolina beat Reading on Thursday night, 4-1. Spencer Carbery is in his first season as South Carolina's head coach. The Stingrays lost in the first round of the 2011 Kelly Cup Playoffs to Wheeling.
