Jackals Beat Pride; 7-3

(Nashua, N.H., August 13, 2008) The New Jersey Jackals extended the Pride's losing streak to six games on Wednesday night, beating Nashua, 7-3, at Historic Holman Stadium.

Jackals' starting pitcher Isaac Pavlik (8-4) earned the victory going six shut-out innings, spreading five hits and striking out five. Reliever Justin Barnes pitched one and one-third innings and gave up three runs (two earned), on two hits, two walks and a strike out. Dustin Cameron closed out the game with an inning and two-thirds of scoreless work.

The Jackals offense pounded three home runs against the Pride, as catcher Matt Lauderdale (2-for-4, RBI), first baseman Juan Tejeda (2-for-5, three RBI), and designated hitter Luke Allen (2-for-5, RBI) each left the yard for New Jersey. Shortstop Bryant Nelson notched three singles and finished the game 3-for-5 with a RBI.

Pride starter Jason Paul (3-4) suffered the loss lasting six and one-third innings, giving up seven runs, on eight hits, two walks and seven strike outs. Relievers Brett Palanski, John Tesseyman, and Adam Piechowski combined to pitch two and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief.

Nashua newcomer Edgard Clemente had both Pride RBI with a two run double in his Pride debut that saw the third Nashua score on the play via an error.

The Pride and Jackals conclude their season series on Thursday night, at 7:05pm, when Nashua sends Hideki Nagasaka (6-5) to the mound. The Jackals will counter with Aaron Tressler (3-7).
