Jackals And Royals Join Forces To Honor

The Elmira Jackals and the Reading Royals announced Friday that they are teaming up to honor New York State Correctional Officers in their games at First Arena on Friday, Feb. 19 and Saturday, Feb. 20 at 7:35 p.m.

The Jackals will wear New York State Correctional Officers uniforms while the Royals have graciously agreed to sport prison black and white for the two games. In addition, the ECHL has granted special permission for the referees to wear judges apparel.

"Along with Royals general manager Gordon Kaye, I am excited about the agreement between the two teams and that the ECHL will allow us to honor New York State Correctional Officers at First Arena. We invite our fans to join us for this special occassion," Elmira Jackals general manager Robbie S. Nichols said.

The jerseys will be auctioned off after the Saturday game at First Arena, with a portion of the proceeds going to District 6 Little League Challenger Baseball. For tickets to the games, visit the First Arena Box Office, call (607) 734-PUCK (7825), or log onto Ticketmaster.com.
