Odessa Jackalopes News Release

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes (17-25-1-1) to the Corpus Christi IceRays (23-22-1-0) by a score of 5-1 on Friday night at the American Bank Center.

Like many of the games between the two this season, the Rays jumped out to an early lead. After two goals, one of which came on the power play, in the first period the Rays led the Jacks 2-0 after the first.

Odessa struck back though midway though the second period with a howitzer shot by John Serafin from the top of the right-side face-off circle. After receiving a cross-ice pass from Carl Skarstrom, Serafin walked in from the near point to the top of the circle. There he let go a slap shot that beat Corpus goaltender Brian George up high.

Serafin's third goal of the season brought the Jacks back within one goal but it would not last long.

Less then three minutes later the IceRays, on a power play, took their two goal lead back after a set up feed from Nicholas Seitz over to Santeri Hartikainen who deposited the puck into a wide open net.

With the Jackalopes trailing 3-1 going into the third, they had a great start to the final period. They got shots and bodies toward the net but were unable to get another goal. Instead, it was the IceRays who had the better part of the period scoring two more goals to finish the game with a 5-1 victory.

The Jackalopes will finish up their series, and look for their first win against Corpus Christi, tomorrow night at 7:05 pm.
