J.P. Morin returns to the Generals

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League continue to add key players to an already talented roster by announcing the signing of defenseman J.P. Morin for the 2004-2005 season. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement shall not be disclosed.

Morin comes back to Flint for his second consecutive season after a tremendous 2003-2004 campaign. The 24-year-old native of Gaspe, PQ appeared in 66 games last season with 1 goal, 16 assists for 17 points and 70 penalty minutes. Morin led the Generals in plus/minus at +17 and was one of the steadiest blue-liners in the U.H.L. Morin was selected to the Eastern Conference All Star squad for the mid-season classic in Fort Wayne last season. Morin was the recipient of two franchise awards last season as the Unsung Hero and co-winner of the Best Defense Award.

The 2004-2005 season will be Morin's third year in the U.H.L. Prior to last season, Morin spent the 2001-20023 campaign with the Port Huron Border Cats. Morin was a member of the East Coast League's Louisiana Ice Gators in the 2002-2003 season.

"The return of J.P. Morin gives us one of the most talented, pure defensemen in the league," said Vice President & Head Coach, Robbie S. Nichols. "Morin is a leader by example. He works hard every day in practice and is shows in every game he plays. Morin is the type of player that will keep it simple and take care of the defensive end and his goaltender. He is steady, quiet and gets the job done. We are counting on another tremendous season from J.P. and our organization is very excited he is back with the Generals."

The Flint Generals return to action with U.H.L. exhibition home games against the Port Huron Beacons on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 7:35 p.m. at Perani Arena. The Generals will host the Jr. Generals on Friday, October 8, 2004 at 7:35 p.m. with proceeds going to benefit youth hockey programs.

The Generals begin their 12th season of play in the United Hockey League hosting the Muskegon Fury in the regular season home opener at Perani Arena on Friday, October 15, 2004 at 7:35 p.m. Season tickets are on sale at TicketMaster at Perani Arena by calling (810) 744-0580.
