Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

Albuquerque, NM - What seemed like a mundane series finale between the Isotopes and Space Cowboys instead turned into a typical Pacific Coast League Sunday afternoon thriller.

Albuquerque led 6-3 after seven innings before squandering three runs in the eighth to tie. Trey Cabbage then put Sugar Land on the brink of a six-game sweep with a two-run double in the ninth, but the home team's bats had one more answer.

The Isotopes had cut the deficit to 8-7 when pinch-hitter Grant Lavigne doubled home the tying run with one out. After a pitching change, Jordan Beck played the role of hero with a drive off the wall in right-center, sending the fans home happy.

Sam Hilliard and Hunter Goodman each homered Sunday, while Jimmy Herron chipped in with a two-run single. Starting pitcher Noah Davis turned in a quality start, giving up three runs over 6.0 innings while striking out nine Space Cowboys.

Topes Scope:

- This marks the fourth time that the Isotopes have avoided a series sweep by winning the finale since Minor League Baseball changed to a six-game format prior to the 2021 season. They also did so on May 18, 2021 (at El Paso), Sept. 11, 2022 (vs. El Paso), and June 4, 2023 (at Salt Lake).

- Today was the 121st walk-off win in Isotopes history, and the 20th to occur in the month of April. All time, Albuquerque has walked off Sugar Land four times.

- The Isotopes snapped an eight-game losing streak, tied for their longest since 2016 (July 25-Aug. 2, 2019; Aug. 5-13, 2023).

- Albuquerque ended a 10-game home skid to Sugar Land, their longest skid against any opponent at Isotopes Park in team history. The Space Cowboys have still won 19 of their last 25 contests in the Duke City.

- Over six games this week, the Isotopes and Space Cowboys combined for 108 runs, 142 hits, 71 walks and 14 errors.

- Davis' nine strikeouts are the most for an Albuquerque starter since Connor Seabold on Sept. 2, 2023 at Sacramento (nine). Davis was two punchouts shy of tying his career-best, reached in 2021 with High-A Spokane.

- Davis' outing marked the first quality start (and longest outing) for an Isotopes hurler since Tanner Gordon blanked Oklahoma City over 7.0 frames on Sept. 22, 2023.

- Coco Montes' RBI single in the first inning gave Albuquerque their first lead since April 6 at Oklahoma City (2-1 in the eighth), a span of 55 frames. Additionally, they had not been in front at the conclusion of a full inning of play since April 5 at OKC (1-0 after one), elapsing 71 total frames.

- Hilliard connected on his 64th home run in an Isotopes uniform, two away from tying Jordan Patterson's career team record (2016-18).

- Hilliard tallied his seventh multi-hit game of the 2024 season, and five in his last six starts. Additionally, this was his first three-hit performance since Sept. 9, 2022, also with Albuquerque vs. El Paso. Hilliard also stole two bases in a contest for the first time since Sept. 29, 2019 for Colorado, in this season finale against Milwaukee.

- Goodman went deep for the first time since Sept. 17 vs. San Francisco, a span of 64 at-bats. Moments before his homer, Goodman was able to successfully challenge a pitch while catching, completing a strikeout of David Hensley.

- Beck extended his overall on-base streak to 34 games, dating back to Aug. 18, 2023 with Double-A Hartford.

- Drew Romo is 9-for-17 over his last four games. He has tallied back-to-back multi-hit performances for the first time in 2024.

- Of 14 total errors committed in this series, third basemen combined for six of them.

On Deck: The Isotopes head to El Paso to begin a six-game series starting on Tuesday. Neither club has announced starting pitchers for any of the contests. Tuesday's opener is scheduled for 6:35 pm MT. Albuquerque will be back home on April 23 for the start of a 12-game homestand.
