Trio of Homers Isn't Enough as Reno Drops Early Lead to Tacoma in 13-7 Loss

April 14, 2024 - Pacific Coast League (PCL)
Reno Aces News Release

Tacoma, Wash. - Pavin Smith's grand slam and two solo shots from Andres Chaparro and Kolten Wong were not enough to give the Reno Aces (6-8) the advantage over the Tacoma Rainiers (11-4) in a 13-7 loss on Sunday at Cheney Stadium.

Through the first four innings in Sunday's contest, the Aces seemed poised for a victory after taking an early 6-2 lead and hammering three home runs off Tacoma starter Michael Mariot, highlighted by Smiths no-doubt grand slam over the right field porch. However, the Rainiers wouldn't go down without a fight and mounted an impressive comeback, rallying for 11 runs to overcome the deficit.

The Aces were unable to get anything going and failed to make a late comeback.

Reno will finish their road trip in Salt Lake to take on the Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, for a six-game series.
