ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico -- Rob Stratton hit a two-run homer to help the Albuquerque Isotopes grab a 6-3 victory over the New Orleans Zephyrs on Wednesday Night in Albuquerque.
After Chris Donnels doubled leading off the bottom of the fourth inning with the score tied at 2-2, Stratton connected on his 30th home run of the year over the left field wall. Derek Wathan added a two-run single for Albuquerque, which has won 12 of its last 17 games. Sean Bergman (5-9) allowed three runs -- one earned -- and eight hits in 5 2/3 innings to win his fourth straight start.
Colin Porter had a pair of hits, drove in a run and scored another to lead New Orleans, which had defeated the Isotopes three times in a row. Jared Fernandez (6-10) gave up four runs and seven hits, striking out one and walking two, in six innings for the loss. Kyle Logan also had two hits on the evening as the Z's remained 5 ½ games behind Nashville, who lost to Oklahoma on Wednesday, in the PCL Eastern Division.
The series with the Isotopes concludes on Thursday at 8:11 PM. Ken Vining (3-3, 4.84) is scheduled to start for the Zephyrs and Scott Sanders (4-3, 3.63) for the Isotopes. The game can be heard on WTIX-AM 690 and at www.zephyrsbaseball.com with Tim Grubbs and calling the action.
