Charlottetown Islanders News Release
The Isles are on the road for a one game stint against the 5-6-0-0 Acadie-Bathurst Titan as they look to bounce back from the 4-2 loss to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on Saturday night.
The Charlottetown loss was their first in four games while the Titan are coming off of a 7-2 win over the Cape Breton Eagles.
This will be the third matchup of the year for these clubs and the season series is tied at one game
Carter Bickle will get his sixth start of the season in Bathurst.
Bickle is coming off of a first star performance against the Moncton Wildcats and is posting a 2.79 G.A.A. and a .906 SV%.
He will be looking for his fourth win of the season.
Keys to victory
BAT - The Titan are the fourth worst defensive in the league as they've allowed 44 goals so far this season. The Isles are coming off of a 35 shot performance against the Huskies. Bathurst will need to be better defensively to improve their chances at winning this game.
CHA - Charlottetown's penalty kill on the road is sitting at only 66% right now (6/18). A big issue in the loss against the Huskies was the Isles got into penalty trouble early, putting them down in the first period. It's crucial that their penalty kill improves on the road with how penalty riddled some games have been.
Players to watch
BAT - Colby Huggan, a P.E.I. native, has already set a new QMJHL career high this season, posting nine points in his first 11 games as opposed to his seven last year. Huggan has already scored against the Isles this year, and has seen success against the Charlottetown in his career, scoring twice against them in one game last year with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.
Another P.E.I. native, Donovan Arsenault, is coming off of a hat-trick performance in the 7-2 win over the Eagles, bringing his total to six in 11 games. With nine points so far this season, he is on pace for 52 points. That would be a new career high. His current top season was set last year with 38 points, split between Bathurst and the Gatineau Olympiques.
CHA - Giovanni Morneau has had some grade-a opportunities in the last few games for the Islanders. Morneau has just one goal this season despite his strong offensive play. Though, he does have an assist in each of the games these teams have played against one-another.
Lucas Romeo will be looking to extend his goal-streak to three games as he has a marker in both the 3-2 win over Moncton, and the loss to the Huskies. Romeo has four goals total in 10 games so far this year to go along with his one assist on the season, which came against the Titan.
Puck drop in the matinee affair at the K.C. Irving Regional Centre is at 4 p.m. You can tune into the game in Bathurst at MAX 93.1FM, or by watching with a CHLTV subscription.
