Charlottetown Islanders News Release
The Islanders lost their one game road trip to Bathurst 4-2 in a matinee affair on Saturday.
Carter Bickle stopped 18/22 shots in his third loss of the season.
Titan goaltender Antoine Keller had to be attentive early as the puck took a weird bounce off the boards after a Marcus Kearsey dump-in attempt.
The Isles went on the penalty kill early as Kyle Powers was sent to the box under two minutes into the game, but the Titan power play didn't garner much offense.
Michael Horth then opened the scoring with his twelfth of the year, once again extending his league leading goal total.
The Isles penalty kill was put to work yet again, but TItan forward, Robert Orr, capitalized, further hurting Charlottetown's road penalty kill.
It was a quiet first period as there were just eight shots in the frame. Three for the Isles and five for Bathurst.
The Isles opened the second frame with some pressure, but Keller kept the game tied.
Ross Campbell would eventually break through, scoring his second of the season on the power play, restoring the Islanders' lead. Horth added his second point of the game with a primary assist while Owen Conrad had the secondary.
But once again, the Titan responded by tying the game as just three minutes later, Joseph Henneberry buried a goal on the power play.
Both goaltenders stayed strong for the rest of the frame, but Kyle Powers was inches away from retaking the lead with a shot off the crossbar, but after review there was no goal.
Bickle started the third period strong, tracking a tipped shot in-tight on goal.
Not long after, Drew Maddigan scored his first of the season, giving Bathurst their first lead of the game.
Just over three minutes later, the Titan doubled up on their lead as Alexandre Lallier buried his second goal of the season, making it 4-2.
Cole Huckins then took another penalty but this time, the man-advantage didn't succeed.
Despite some back-and-fourth chances, the score stayed at 4-2, and final shots were tied at 22 apiece.
Keller stopped 20 shots in the win, earning his fifth win of the season.
Though Charlottetown was perfect on the man-advantage scoring on their one power play in the game, Bathurst was 2/5 with the extra skater.
Bathurst also outhit the Isles 24-22 in the physical game.
The Islanders return to the ice next on Thursday, Oct. 26 as they take on division rival, Saint John Sea Dogs at home. Puck drop at the Eastlink Centre is at 7 p.m. You can tune into the game at MAX 93.1FM. You can also purchase tickets here.
