After what can only be described as a bizarre situation at the Eastlink Centre last night, the Charlottetown Islanders and Cape Breton Eagles are back for another round of hockey on St. Patrick's Day. Thanks to the luck of the Irish, fans will be getting some extra hockey out of it.

After referee Brian Langille deemed a rut in the Eastlink Centre ice unsafe for play to continue, last night's game was temporarily postponed until tonight. Therefore, the final 18:50 of last night's game will be played at the beginning of tonight's play at 7:00pm. There will be a 20 minute intermission following the conclusion of that third period before the beginning of tonight's game.

To catch fans up to speed, the Isles were out to a 4-0 lead at the beginning of the third period thanks to two goals from Cedric Desruisseaux, a shorthanded goal from Zac Beauregard, and a late second period marker from Sam Oliver. Lukas Cormier also has two assists thus far in the game while Brett Budgell, Noah Laaouan, and Keiran Gallant have also picked up markers.

To set the stage in the final frame, Oscar Plandowski will start the action in the penalty box as he had drawn a holding penalty on the previous play. Ironically enough, it was that infraction with Eagles defenseman Nathan Larose that caused the rut in the ice, as the two got their skates tangled up and dug in to the ice.

Charlottetown was on their way to matching a franchise high ten-game winning streak last night which they'll look to seal tonight. If Irish luck is on their side, they'll have the opportunity to surpass that record with four successful periods of play tonight. In addition, Isles netminder Colten Ellis was 18:50 away from his 17th career shutout, which would tie him with former Shawinigan Cataractes netminder Phillipe Cadorette for most in QMJHL history.

Season Ticket Holders - Please use the ticket for Home Game 15 for entrance to tonight's game. You will enter at your regular entrance times as if it were any regular game.

All of tonight's action can be found at any of our five viewing partners across Charlottetown - Outrider's Cookhouse, the Factory Downtown, Boston Pizza, Dooly's, and the PEI Brewing Company. Eastlink Community TV Channel 10/610 will have the action on TV while George Matthews and Cory Arsenault will have the call on Fair Isle Ford Isles Radio on YouTube!
