Charlottetown Islanders News Release

After a 4-3 victory on Friday where the team tied a franchise high with 58 shots fired on net, the Charlottetown Islanders will attempt to sweep the series this afternoon at Harbour Station when they take on the Saint John Sea Dogs.

Charlottetown (9-5-1-0) currently sit sixth overall in the league thanks to a six-game winning streak. The team's offense has been outstanding during that stretch, having not scored less than four goals in each of those games. Their 54 goals for this season puts the Islanders eighth overall in the QMJHL in that category. Saint John (2-10-2-1), on the other hand, are looking to snap a six-game losing streak that started back on October 12th against the Halifax Mooseheads.

Former Sea Dogs Daniel Hardie and Kevin Gursoy were lights out against their former team, with a combined five points between the two of them. Gursoy in particular has been a Sea Dog Killer this season; he's racked up six points in three matchups so far, including all three of his goals this season.

Hardie and linemate Keith Getson both currently lead the Islanders with 14 points in 15 games this season. With his opening goal on Friday night, Nikita Alexandrov maintained possession of the team lead with nine goals. He's now tied for tenth in the QMJHL in that category.

With his two-point game for the Sea Dogs on Friday, Yohan Plamondon extended his team lead with 12 points in 14 games so far this season. Filip Prikryl, one of Saint John's two new import players this season, registered the first multi-point game of his QMJHL career on Friday in the loss.

Tune in to Fair Isle Ford Isles Radio this afternoon to catch all the action as the Islanders try to extend their winning streak to seven games in a row. It all starts at 3:00pm! If you can't tune in, make sure you have the Charlottetown Islanders app downloaded for real-time scoring updates!
