Bridgeport Islanders News Release

BRIDGEPORT, CT (October 16, 2014) - The New York Islanders announced today that defenseman Griffin Reinhart has been loaned to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

Reinhart, 20, appeared in three games for the Islanders this season, racking up two penalty minutes and helping the Islanders win every game he played in. The North Vancouver, BC, native made his National Hockey League debut on Oct. 10 when the team traveled to Carolina to take on the Hurricanes.

The Islanders selected Reinhart in the first round, fourth overall, of the 2012 National Hockey League Draft. He captained the Edmonton Oil Kings to Western Hockey League and Memorial Cup Championships last season, tallying 21 points (four goals and 17 assists) in 45 games. He scored 29 points (eight goals and 21 assists) in 59 games during his third season with Edmonton (WHL) and his first as team captain.

Reinhart spent the past four-plus seasons with the Oil Kings before making the leap to the NHL. Prior to that, he played for the Vancouver North West Giants of the British Columbia Major Midget League.
