
Lightning Assign Jonathan Drouin to Syracuse

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have assigned forward Jonathan Drouin to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League today, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced. Drouin suffered a slight fracture in his right thumb and has been sidelined since mid-September.
Drouin, 19, skated in 46 games last season for the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, posting 29 goals and 108 points. He led the Mooseheads for assists (79) and points. The 5-foot-11, 178 pound forward also recorded 10 power-play goals and three shorthanded tallies. Drouin ranked third in the QMJHL for points and led the league for assists.
The Ste-Agathe, Quebec native appeared in seven games for Team Canada at the 2014 World Jr. Championships, collecting three goals and nine points. Drouin served as an alternate captain for the team. He also skated for Team Canada at the 2013 World Jr. Championships.
Drouin played in 128 career QMJHL games, all with Halifax, recording 77 goals and 242 points over three seasons. He won the Memorial Cup with Halifax in 2013 and led his team for assists and points during the QMJHL playoffs.
Drouin was drafted by Tampa Bay in the first round, third overall, at the 2013 NHL Draft.
