Charlottetown Islanders News Release

Following an opening weekend that saw them take one win and one loss, the Charlottetown Islanders are back in action tonight as they welcome the Saint John Sea Dogs to the Eastlink Centre.

Last season, the Islanders were 6-2-1-0 in 9 games against the Sea Dogs, with the Islanders scoring more than five goals in a game on four separate occasions.

The Sea Dogs lost their first game of the regular season to Halifax 5-4 in overtime, before rallying to defeat the Moncton Wildcats by a score of 5-4. Rookie forward Josh Lawrence has been incredible for Saint John, scoring six points in his first two games, including a hat trick against Moncton. His six points currently leads the league through two games.

This game also marks the first time that rookie defenseman Charlie DesRoches, a native of Days Corner, PEI, will play in front of a hometown crowd at the Eastlink Centre. DesRoches was selected in the 2nd round, 32nd overall, by the Sea Dogs in the 2018 QMJHL Draft.

For the Islanders, Hunter Drew returns to the line-up for the first time this season. Drew recently returned from the Anaheim Ducks training camp.

Don't forget that Wednesday's game is also the first instalment of Winning Wednesday.
