Islanders and Wildcats Renew Hostilities at Avenir Centre

Charlottetown Islanders News Release
With the proverbial offensive monkey off their back, the Charlottetown Islanders head to Moncton to take on the Wildcats in a Saturday afternoon affair.
The Islanders (25-20-5-0) had their sticks come to life Thursday night, coming from behind to defeat the Shawinigan Cataractes 6-5. The team scored four straight goals to secure the victory, including three in a six minute span in the third period. The newly-formed trio of Liam Peyton, Brett Budgell, and Ethan Crossman led the charge on offense with a combined eight points, including two goals from Peyton and the game-winner from Crossman. It was a victory that the team said was huge for it's confidence going forward.
"This win shows that our character is going to get us wins," said Peyton on the performance. "We battled, we stuck with it, and you get the end result with a win. It's re-assuring to our group to know that if we battle, and compete night in and night out, we're going to get the results."
They'll need that confidence when they take on the Wildcats (33-12-1-0), who are coming off a win over the Cataractes themselves, a 4-2 victory last night at home. The win only adds to a long streak for Moncton, who haven't lost in regulation in seven straight games. They'll look to replicate their last performance against the Islanders, a 4-0 victory just last Sunday.
While the offense wasn't there for Charlottetown in that game, the Islanders were able to find positives in their performance, particularly how they defended against one of the strongest teams in the country.
"One thing we need to take away from that game is to believe," said forward Ethan Crossman earlier this week. "A lot of people might not have believed in us going in to that game, but I think we're very capable; as a group we kind of showed that to ourselves. We're capable of being a good team in this league and beating these top-end teams."
With a stacked roster offensively, one player to keep an eye on for Moncton is Summerside native Jeremy McKenna. The over-age forward has been relatively quiet this month, but last time he faced the Islanders McKenna led the way for his team with three points in that game.
You can catch all the action across the airwaves live on Ocean 100, with the pre-game show beginning at 3:45pm. George Matthews and Cory Arsenault will have the call for you as always!
