Islanders Acquire All-Star Netminder Colten Ellis

The Charlottetown Islanders made a major splash in the trade market during Day 2 of the 2020 QMJHL Draft, acquiring St. Louis Blues prospect Colten Ellis from the Rimouski Oceanic in exchange for the 39th overall selection in the 2020 Draft, a 2021 1st round pick, and a 2021 2nd round pick.

The 20-year-old netminder from Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia was selected by the Blues in the 3rd round, 93rd overall in the 2019 NHL Draft. Last season, Ellis made 29 appearances for the Oceanic, recording a .904 save percentage and a 2.41 goals against average, good for fourth among qualified goalies in the QMJHL.

In his career, Ellis has made 129 appearances and has a career .910 save percentage.

As a rookie during the 2017-2018 season, Ellis was named to the QMJHL's Second All-Star Team, the QMJHL All-Rookie Team, and was the winner of the Raymond Lagace Trophy as the Defensive Rookie of the Year.
