(Allentown, Pa) - Ramon Torres solo home run off JD Hammer (2-2) in the top of the eighth inning provided the game's lone run as the Charlotte Knights (64-53) beat the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (55-61) 1-0.
Ramon Rosso pitched six scoreless innings for the IronPigs and only gave up two hits while issuing four walks. Connor Brogdon pitched a scoreless inning in relief, while Kyle Dohy recorded one out in relief of Hammer. Nick Vincent made his Phillies organizational debut and pitched a scoreless inning in the top of the ninth inning.
Charlotte's Matt Tomshow gave up just one hit over six innings while walking three batters and striking out four. Thyago Vieira (6-4) earned the win after pitching two scoreless innings in relief of Tomshow. Hunter Schryver earned his first save of the season by striking out three batters in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The IronPigs look to avoid a sweep on Sunday afternoon against the Charlotte Knights. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 p.m.
