IronPigs Rally Past Bisons, 5-3
May 4, 2019 - International League (IL1)
Buffalo Bisons News Release
Gift Ngoepe bases-loaded double in the eighth inning propelled the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to a 5-3 victory over the Bisons, Saturday afternoon from Sahlen Field.
The former Herd infielder had the crushing blow in a back-and-forth affair between the IL North division rivals. With the Bisons leading 3-2, Lehigh Valley loaded the bases in the eighth with a Lane Adams double and a pair of walks. Herd reliever Javy Guerra then jumped ahead 1-2 in the count, but Ngoepe pulled a double down the left field line to bring home all three runners.
The IronPigs rally came just after the Bisons had taken the lead in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Trailing 2-1 for most of the game, Buffalo scored on an RBI groundout from Anthony Alford and a sacrifice fly from Roemon Fields to take a 3-2 lead. However, Buffalo did have the bases loaded with no outs in the inning and couldn't get that one hit that would've given them a bigger lead.
Buffalo opened the scoring in the second inning as Alford hit his fourth home run of the season. Turning on a pitch down and in from IronPigs starter Cole Irvin, Alford golfed the ball over the wall in left, hitting the first row of banners.
The IronPigs scored solo runs in the third and fourth innings to take the 2-1 lead. Shane Robison homered to nearly the same spot as Alford to tie the game at one. Lehigh Valley then used three walks and a hit batter to push across their second run.

Sean Reid-Foley started for the Bisons and allowed just three runs in six innings of work. He struck out six, but also walked five in the no-decision. Guerra was charged with the loss for Buffalo.
The Bisons close out their eight-game homestand on Sunday with a 1:05 p.m. game against the IronPigs, which will also include a visit from the popular children's character, Peppa Pig.
