September 2, 2016 - International League (IL1)
Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
For the second straight night, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs will look to clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Rochester Red Wings on Friday night. First pitch from Frontier Field in Rochester is slated for 7:05 p.m.
RHP Ben Lively (10-5, 3.22) gets the ball for the Pigs on Friday night. Lively earned the win on Sunday at Buffalo when he gave up one run on two hits while walking one and fanning seven over five innings of work. With a win tonight, the right-hander will become the first MiLB pitcher to reach 18 wins since Jhoulys Chacin did so in 2008.
LHP Jason Wheeler (11-5, 3.23) will toe the rubber for Rochester opposite Lively. Wheeler was dealt the loss on Sunday vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after allowing three runs on six hits to go along with two walks and three strikeouts in 7.0 IP. In four career starts against the IronPigs, the southpaw is 0-2 with a 5.49 ERA.
After notching a pair of hits on Thursday, Pigs OF Cody Asche has now hit safely in seven of his last eight games. During that stretch, Asche is hitting .345-2-7 (10-29, 4 2B, 4 BB, 7 R).
