Gwinnett Stripers News Release

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - Casey Gillaspie went 5-for-6 as the Durham Bulls (62-79) routed the Gwinnett Braves (64-76) 14-0 on Friday night at Coolray Field.

The G-Braves continue to lead the International League South Division by 2.0 games over Charlotte (62-78), which was rained out on Friday, and 2.5 games over Durham with three to play.

Durham batted around twice, in the fourth and seventh, scoring five and four runs in those innings respectively. The Bulls pounded out 17 hits in the game and homered twice.

Gillaspie tripled after Daniel Robertson smacked a two-run home run in the fourth against Madison Younginer and finished a home run shy of the cycle.

Johnny Field effectively put the game out of reach with a bases-clearing double to cap the fourth-inning rally as part of a 3-for-5 night.

Jake Faria (W, 4-4) held Gwinnett hitless through the first 6.1 innings until Matt Lipka ripped a clean single to left field. He and Blake Lalli collected the G-Braves' only hits, with Lalli's coming with one out in the eighth.

Faria walked three and struck out four in 7.0 innings for Durham. Brad Schreiber added 2.0 scoreless, one-hit innings in relief.

Jaff Decker went 4-for-4 with two RBIs and both Robertson and J.P. Arencibia homered and scored three times.

Durham got four runs (two earned) against G-Braves' starter Wilfredo Boscan over the first 3.0 innings, and scored against four of the six Gwinnett hurlers. Position players Reid Brignac and Emerson Landoni each registered scoreless innings on the mound in the final two innings.
