Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release

Down to their final eight games of the regular season, the IronPigs (73-63) play Game two of a three-game, home series -- and a five-game, "home-and-home" series -- against the first-place Scranton/WB Yankees (79-57) at Coca-Cola Park... With a 9-5 win last night, the Pigs have won back-to-back games and maintained their 0.5-game lead over Pawtucket in the Wild Card race... The Pigs are now 7-4 in their last 11 contests, but remain just 21-27 since July 6 -- going from a season-high 3.0-games up to a 6.0-games back in the North... Scranton -- the Yankees' top affiliate -- snapped its season-high, nine consecutive games but remains 16-5 in its last 21 affairs. In fact, since the All-Star Break (July 12), the Yanks boast a 30-14 record -- going from third and 4.0 GB to first and 6.0 GA.

RHP Jonathan Pettibone (4-0, 1.69) will start for LHV against LHP Justin Thomas (1-1, 3.56).

Today is IronPigs Acrylic Tumbler Cup Giveaway Day, presented by Coca-Cola... First-Pitch is at 1:35 p.m.

LEADERS OF THE PORK!:

With Pawtucket's 4-3 win in Charlotte last night, the Pigs still hold a 0.5-game lead in the Wild Card race... They took the WC lead on 8/24 -- their first time back to a post-season position since leading the North Division by 0.5-games on 7/19 (a span of 36 days)... They did increase their lead to 4.5 over COL; 5.0 over NOR and 5.5 over ROC.

WITH A WIN TODAY, THE PIGS WILL...:

* Win 3 straight games for the first time since 7/31-8/2 -- a span of 24 G... The last time they won 4 straight was 7/1-7/3 (DH on 7/1).

* Clinch a season split with SWB... LHV has only had won winning season vs. SWB (2010: 9-7) and the other 3 were won by SWB.

* Clinch a winning season against the North Division -- which would be their 3rd in 5 seasons. They won in 2009 (42-38) & 2011 (43-37).
