Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
The fifth-place IronPigs (52-77) play Game One of a mini two-game series against the third-place Syracuse Chiefs (65-63) -- Washington's top affiliate. With a 7-0 rain-shortened win last night, the Pigs took the three-game series against Rochester, 2-1, and have now won six of their last nine contests. Still, Lehigh Valley is just 8-19 in its last 27 affairs after winning a season-best six of seven, July 19-25... Syracuse -- which hasn't played since a 4-3 loss Saturday against SWB -- has dropped four of its last five games. Once 54-43 on July 20, the Chiefs have gone 11-20 in their last 31 affairs. In fact, since they last played in LHV on July 2, the Chiefs have gone from first in the North to 11.5 GB.
RHP Vance Worley (1-2, 3.69) will start for LHV against LHP Matt Chico (6-7, 3.70).
First-pitch tonight is at 7:05 p.m. for IronPigs Team Baseball Card Set Night, presented by Verizon Wireless.
