
Oliver Leads Mud Hens to 7-3 Win

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Toledo Mud Hens won its third game over the Columbus Clippers in four days behind a stellar performance from starting pitcher Andy Oliver (2-3). Toledo was victorious, 7-3.
Oliver struck out 10 in 6.2 innings, allowing two runs - one earned - on five hits. He walked just two batters.
The Clippers took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second. Jared Goedert reached base on a fielding error by Shawn Roof at third base to start the inning. He scored on an RBI double by Wes Hodges. The run was unearned.
Toledo responded in the home half to take the lead. Ben Guez and Mike Bertram hit back-to-back singles to begin the inning. Chris White followed with a hit of his own that included a throwing error by Goedert. Guez scored to tie the game, while White and Bertram ended up on second and third with none out. Bertram scored on a ground out by Max St-Pierre to give the Hens a 2-1 lead. After Roof was hit by a pitch, Justin Henry hit a sacrifice fly to score White. Cale Iorg unloaded the bases with his first home run as a Hen. The two-run homer put Toledo up 5-1. Scott Sizemore struck out to end the inning.
The Clippers got one run back in the top of the seventh. A Jordan Brown single got things started for Columbus. After Hodges struck out, Josh Rodriguez doubled. Brown scored on a ground out by Damaso Espino. Argenis Reyes struck out to end the inning.
The Mud Hens tacked on two runs in the eighth. Henry, Iorg and Sizemore hit three consecutive singles to load the bases for Jeff Frazier. He did not hit a grand slam, but he did bring in a run on a sac fly. Guez followed with an RBI single to make it 7-2 Hens.
The Clippers got a run off Josh Rainwater in the top of the ninth before Casey Fien relieved him to collect the save.
