IL1 Toledo Mud Hens

IronPigs Edge Hens, 2-1

June 20, 2012 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Hens couldn't take advantage of a great start by Casey Crosby as they were edged 2-1 by the IronPigs on Wednesday night.

The game had the makings of a pitcher's duel as Crosby retired 11 of the first 12 batters he faced. The IronPigs got the better of him in the fifth though after opening up the inning with back-to-back doubles to take a 1-0 lead.

Alex Avila tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single. Avila was replaced with a pinch runner immediately after to officially end his rehab stint in Toledo.

The IronPigs broke the tie again in the eighth after a Rob Brantly throwing error allowed Pete Orr to advance from first to third on a stolen base. Orr then scored on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Frandsen to make it 2-1.

Matt Hoffman suffered the loss despite the run he allowed being unearned.

The Hens will look to split the series tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Tigers LHP Drew Smyly is scheduled to start and throw three innings as part of a rehab assignment.
